A preview for the "M" family

Besides getting to spend a beautiful fall Sunday outside, I had the pleasure of working with the funniest family for the second time. Seriously, I'm still cracking up over some of the commentary running during the session (the model on the soccer field bahahaha! It was like watching Zoolander work the runway *grin*) And "S", as always, you are the reflector king. I'd hire you in a heartbeat if I, one, actually needed a full time reflector guy and if, two, I could pay you in anything other than paperclips, random shiney beads and stale cheerios I found in my car :)

So, without further delay, here's a few of my favorites . . . .

What girl doesn't love jewelry?

I had the opportunity to work with two amazingly talented jewelry artists over the past couple of days. Mark and Tina Bennett are the owners of Spencer Lapidary, located in Elwood, Indiana and they hand craft each piece of jewelry in their shop. Each piece is unique and they will work with you to design your own pieces. (***Hint to husbands - this is a fabulous idea for your wife for the holidays***) You can learn more about their business and find all the important contact info at their website http://www.spencerlapidary.com/

And a personal note to all the stunning women that modeled these pieces - each of you were a pleasure to work with. Your cooporation and great spirit made this project an amazing experience. Thank you!!!

And now, without further ado, here's some beautiful jewelry to drool over this afternoon.

"Keep me. Protect me. Share me. And I will live forever."

I guess it goes without saying that I love old pictures. Especially old snapshots. This is one of my favorites of my great grandparents. I love the story this picture tells. The way she's leaning on to him, the way he he's sitting "criss cross applesauce". Knowing that their short lives were filled with a lot of very hard work and eventually eight kids, I imagine that there weren't many lazy afternoon moments like this. I'm glad that someone took the time to pick up a camera and capture this moment so that 60+ years after their deaths, I'm able to look at this picture and share a moment in their lives.

And because it go along so well with this post, I wanted to share my all time favorite commercial. Enjoy!

One . . . Two . . . (Three)

These two were so sweet and such troopers. The day started with yucky grey clouds and rain, and we had to delay the session by a couple of hours, and yet, look how absolutely relaxed and adorable they were. They didn't even mind when I dragged them out to the wet yard in search of light.

So, without further delay, here's a little preview for the "W" family. I hope you love them as much as I do :)

Wordle

Oh how I love the internet :) I found this nifty site that you input words in to and it generates a random layout for you. I used it to make a layout about my business but you could also make a great party invite with it or use it to generate some scrapbook journaling.

The Fair

Most of yesterday was a free day for me and since the weather was perfect, we packed up and headed out to the fair. Apparently, so did everyone else in Indiana ;). It wasn't bad though. There's so much to see and do that even when it's crowded, it doesn't seem crowded. We ate, and ate, and ate. Love those elephant ears - every year we get one from the little red barn. I can remember eating their elephant ears when I was little. They're so good, I don't dare try any place else. And of course, we had to buy some taffy. That's another childhood tradition that I'm carrying on. Throw in a lemon shakeup and it was a yummy day. (Has anyone else noticed that they don't make the lemon shakeups with granular sugar anymore? Now it's just a sugar syrup it's just not the same - still good, but not the same *sigh*.)

This year we got lucky and were able to see the draft horse teams (someone correct me if that's not the technical name) entering the ring for their judging. It's humbling to be standing there watching those animals. They're huge! I wanted to snap a picture but I decided to just enjoy the experience of seeing and hearing them pass by.

As we were heading home, it felt like summer was over. Maybe it's the cool(er) weather, or that school starts next week but I can feel it. Fall is lurking around. I'm not sure if I'm ready for it, this summer has been too much fun to give it up just yet . . .

A preview for "K" and family

This is one of those images, one of the ones that as a mom, it makes my heart smile. I opened this file up and knew this would forever be one of my favorites. It's just a moment, a brief second in time. I can look at this and remember when my daughter was this small. And I remember what if felt like to wrap my arms around her tiny body. To hold her close and want to imprint those feelings of love and joy on to my soul forever. To fill her with all the love and confidence that she will need for a lifetime. "K" I hope you love this one as much as I do :)

And on the flip side, here's little miss "P" looking stunning in her "AB/CD" tee and tutu. All smiles and giggles.

I'll end on this one, but don't worry "K", there will be lots more to look through :) See you soon!

Missing the beach

In June we headed down to Ft. Myers Beach for a 9 day vacation. It was wonderful! Days spent swimming, playing in the sand, and napping. Throw in some great books, good snacks and time spent with family (including my wonderful in-laws who for some reason refuse to believe that I actually enjoy spending time with them ;) "M" and "B" listen up - we love having you join us when we travel! Honest!). What more could you need in life? My husband and I have even worked out our dream beach life. Oh sure, it entails millions of dollars, that sadly refuses to rain out of the sky, but it's nice to dream of "some day" right? :)

I'm having this printed HUGE for our bedroom. I can't wait to finish redecorating and hang it!

This little guy was washed up during a storm. A horseshoe crab I think?

Shells, shells and more shells. I can still hear the "crunch, crunch, crunch" as we walked.

If you're headed to the beach this summer, enjoy! Plant yourself at the edge of the water and let yourself be amazed by the power and wonder of nature. Life is so good :)

Fall sessions

Granted it's suppose to be in the 90's this week but none the less, it's time to start thinking about fall portraits. September and October are very busy months and they fill up fast, especially with seniors. If you have a date in mind, I recommend booking it now so you'll get your first choice.

This year I will also be offering a few weekday morning sessions during the fall. If you are interested, use the contact page on my website to request more information. http://www.lamccoyphotography.com/

As promised, a sneak-peek for "S" and her mom

"S" you are absolutely beautiful. I hope you enjoyed your session as much as I did. I can wait for you to see the entire results. Talk to you soon :)

Ancestry

This is one of those things that you get in to after you have children I suppose. Trying to fill out those family trees in baby books makes you wonder about the stories behind the names and faces in those old grainy pictures.

If you'd like to learn more about your family history, I highly recommend joining www.ancestry.com. The amount of info available on that site is amazing. It's like finding a treasure chest full of census records, old newspaper clippings and marriage records. Happy searching! :)
